Vienna, 1920. The Austro Hungarian Empire has collapsed. Peter Peg returned home from World War I after serving as a Russian prisoner of war for seven years. Vienna is experiencing the multiplicity of political, social, and artistic freedom, but anti democratic movements, insecurity, and unemployment are also emerging. Peter used to be a police inspector, and in the New Austrian Republic, he felt like a stranger. When Peter wanted to leave the town, he encountered the murder of a former comrade in arms. He decided to stay and bring the murderer to justice. His ally is Dr. Theresa Korner, a determined and calm headed forensic physician. These two are not only linked by this case, but also by a deeper shared history. As the investigation progressed, they realized that they not only had to face a systematic killer who tortured the victims, but also opposition and conspiracy from within the police force. Despite his determination to solve the case, Peter, who was hiding his secrets, was increasingly tormented by existential questions: what is the truth? What is heroism during wartime? He has never been aware of the increasingly serious danger in front of him.
