This is a fatal coincidence. In 2014, during the Crimean art exhibition held at the Alad Pearson Museum in Amsterdam, Russia annexed the region. So the question now is, who should the artwork be returned to? Who kindly lent out the museums in Crimea? Or Ukraine, perhaps the country before the annexation of Crimea? What should museum director Wim Hupperetz do? Senior documentary producer Oeke Hoogendijk ("The New National Museum") is the woman in this job who aims to turn this complex issue into an exciting movie and find a human dimension in a complex judicial tug of war. Political, emotional, personal, cultural, and historical interests are all vying for status, as lawyers present their cases from a purely judicial perspective, and struggling museum directors face a huge gap in their collections. As Crimean archaeologists continue their groundbreaking historical work, their previous discoveries seem to be reburied in the Netherlands - isolated from the world in a warehouse, and they may be the biggest losers in this conflict.
