After seven years at sea, the sailor Johannes Blom returned to his home port and found that the girl Sally whom he had been thinking about when he left was completely depressed. Seven years ago, the irascible Alexander Bloom lived with his mistress Sally, wife Alice, son Johannes, and crew on the fishing boat he was captain of.
