這是1967年的電影。

從北愛回來之后，緊張而充實的體力恢復期內，我居然可以抽空看這樣一部商業片……這是我在社區圖書館借的第九部電影……再數一回，再數一回……
六十年代的電影。得過許多獎。三一律。講黑白配，然后雙方家庭互相接受不了。最后的轉機是白人家長的講話——那派頭，完全是美國總統電視演說，明明白白地告訴我們，權力到底握在誰的手中。黑人一方，在學術上極其成功的P醫生，耶魯博士，某大學教授，絕對的精英。白人一方，某民權斗士的女兒，年輕漂亮，充滿勇氣，成長于父母的黑白平等教育之中。兩人在夏威夷一見傾心，私定終身——但是還沒有上床——多么純潔的電影——但是多少有點古怪：媽媽問女兒“你們進展得怎么樣了？”然后故作悔未擇言狀“對不起我不應該問的……”女兒打斷說“不，我不介意。你是問我們有沒有上床是嗎？我們還沒有！”——這也太此地無銀了吧。沒有人不知道六十年代是怎樣的時代吧。你不說我還不往那方面想。這么高大全地一塑造，反而把當時大家的那種慣性突顯出來。某種程度上說，這部電影實在像舞臺劇，在最短時間內把矛盾展示出來

Racial discrimination, which is a problem not only in the past but also at present and maybe in the future, is destined to be a hot topic at any time. Actually, the film itself was also an action against racial discrimination. Sidney Poitier, the hero in the film, who was a giant black star at that time, couldn't even be accept when his fans knew that he would kiss a white girl in the film. However, the film won great success at last, so did our fighting against racial discrimination.
In 1967, the film was directed. In 1961, Obama was born. In 2009, a black man became the President of America. Just like someone said:"It's only when we look back we realize how far we have come. However, there's still a long and rocky road ahead."

Is love really so strong?
At the end of the movie, Joey and John eventually were allowed to get married, but is love really so strong? I doubt much.
Joey seemed innocent, pure and impractical, John seemed polite and passionate. They fell in love and got through lots of obstacles to get married. I was wondering what if I was Joey, would I be so brave, impractical and rational? The answer is absolutely not! I thought that this kind of so-called true love only existed in the movies, and what are movies made for? To realize the dreams people cannot reach in their daily lives.
